The tourist tax is a part of the fees and payment obligations for boaters which used to be paid in harbour authorities and branch offices, but this year is paid online through the portal.

1. I cannot complete my payment. What is the issue?

Please check with your bank if your credit card has a limit on Internet commerce and whether it has a permission to make any purchase online.

Moreover, check what kind of authentication your card uses. The most common authentication is through an SMS on your cell phone or through an e-mail so make sure you type your security code correctly. If your purchase amount is larger than your daily limit, your transaction will not be approved and in such case you will have to contact your bank to increase your limit to the amount that fits your purchase.

2. Tourist tax extension in 2021

The Regulation on Nautics which is in place since June 17 2021 prescribes an extention of those tourist tax permits which were paid after January 1 2021 and whose period lasts after June 17 2021.  Those permits that meet both criteria extend for additional 20%.

In 2021 it is not possible to get a refund but only tax extension. The permit will be automatically extended, therefore, no special application or e-mail confirmation will be needed.

3. Tourist tax payment via bank transaction

Besides payment by a creditcard, tourist tax can be paid by a bank transfer. In this case you should enter all the necessary information about the vessel and/or passengers and select payment model „bank transfer“. After you proceed, you will get all the information about your order on your e-mail. Also, the e-mail will contain payment instructions, such as IBAN, BIC/SWIFT, reference number and the amount in HRK that should be transferred.  Due to international transfer your payment may take up to three days to process after which you will get a tax confirmation on your e-mail.

A short reminder: in case you pay via credit card, your tax confirmation will be sent to your e-mail within 30 minutes, whereas to secure a tax confirmation through a bank transfer may take up to few working days.

4. How can I type a date fast?

When selecting a date, first make sure you selected the right month and year and then click the date.

5. Payment in different currency: the invoice I should pay is in kunas, and I can only pay in a different currency (e.g. EUR). How should I pay?

If you’re paying through a bank transaction, once you filled the payment details, select the amount that should be paid in kunas and the bank will use its exchange rate to calculate the amount in domestic currency you need to pay.

If you’re paying by a credit card, the bank will automatically calculate the amount that should be paid in kunas and your bank account will be credited in domestic currency.

6. How to register on the portal?

When signing in on the portal, a link will be sent to the entered email address, which can then be used to log in to the portal in the future. When logging in using the link, the portal will save all items in the cart and favourites.

Registration on the portal does not imply creating a user profile with access data.

7. When entering the country, is it necessary to go to the police/customs office if the tourist tax was paid online?

Paying the tourist tax does not mean that other obligations which tourists have upon entering Croatia have been fulfilled.

8. Is the tourist tax necessary for vessels less than 7 metres in length with built-in berths?

It is not necessary to pay the tourist tax for boaters for vessels less than 7 metres in length.

9. Reference calculation of the tourist tax

If the user decides to pay the tourist tax according to vessel length, the vignette can be bought for different periods. This option allows the user to choose the duration of the tourist tax validity period and select the date from which the tourist tax (vignette) applies. The tourist tax can also be paid for several different periods of the year. The cost of the tourist tax is calculated according to the price list.

If the user decides to pay the tourist tax according to the number of persons for every overnight stay, the cost of the tourist tax for an overnight stay will be HRK 10.00 per person. The price of HRK 10.00 per overnight stay does not apply to categories with discounts and exemptions, which will be automatically taken into account during the calculation.

For example, if 3 persons are staying on the vessel for 5 nights, the tourist tax will be calculated in the following way: 3 persons x 5 nights x HRK 10 = HRK 150.

11. What happens when the purchase of a vignette is unsuccessful or the site crashes during the purchase?

If during the online tourist tax payment process the website is not working properly or the transaction is not successful, we recommend changing the web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox ,etc.) used to view the website and repeating the transaction.

12. What happens when a tourist spends their nights both on board the vessel and in accommodation on land?

If a person stays overnight on a vessel not intended for nautical tourism, they are required to pay the tourist tax for boaters through the portal https://nautika.evisitor.hr/ for that period, while the tax for the period spent on land should be paid separately through eVisitor if the person has their own means of access to the system (such as house owners, apartment owners, etc.), or it should be paid as part of the bill for staying at a camp, apartment or hotel. In practice, a person can be registered for several days at a camp, apartment or hotel and be required to pay the tourist tax as part of the bill for that accommodation, but tourist tax should also be paid when staying overnight on board a vessel.

13. How can a tourist prove that they use a vessel only for navigation by day, but not for staying over night if they have accommodation booked on land?

If a boater spends their nights only on land and does not spend more time on the vessel than what would be considered a daytime stay, they are not required to pay the additional tourist tax for staying on board the vessel. The time of departure from and return to a harbour is also important in that if the person stays on the vessel for longer than what is specified in the Ordinance as a daytime stay, it is necessary to pay the tourist tax for such a stay.

14. Other obligations and payments for boaters under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure

The owner or user of a foreign vessel must register their stay or navigation to the nearest harbour authority or harbour authority branch office to regulate their required safety of navigation and pollution protection fee during their period of stay or navigation in Croatian territorial waters.

The cost of this fee will depend on the length and the total power of the propulsion system of the yacht or boat. It is also necessary to submit a valid insurance policy for the vessel and proof that the vessel is in proper working condition for navigation.

The website eNautika (eVessel https://enautika.pomorstvo.hr/#/public/dashboard) offers the possibility of calculating the safety of navigation and pollution protection fee for information purposes as well as requesting and paying the fee if the vessel is returning to Croatia.
